About Us.

Andy Wood created Breaking Tax as a quarantined laboratory for his ramblings about the UK tax system. It does not provide any tax or other advisory services – so don’t ask, right.

Andy is a barrister who joined the bar in 2019

Andy spent the early part of his career in big accountancy firms helping their entrepreneurial and high net worth clients with their affairs.

Over a decade ago (2011 to be precise), hoping that some of the magic dust from these entrepreneurial clients had rubbed off on him, he established his own tax advisory business.

His clients, as well as the aforementioned entrepreneurs, also include high-net-worth individuals, sports persons and entertainers and private companies.

Andy is also an accredited mediator.

He is a member of the Association of Tax Technicians (Fellow) Chartered Institute of Taxation (Fellow) and the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (“STEP”). He also holds the Financial Planning Certificate and the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate (if they still exist!)

He was the first person mad enough to attempt a substantive work on the UK taxation of crypto-assets published by Claritax Books. The second edition of this book will soon be published shortly.

Having grown up in Castleford, West Yorkshire, Andy has rugby league in his DNA. He is also a Yorkshire cricket fan and long-suffering Everton supporter.

His guitar playing ambition exceeds his proficiency.
